Undoubtedly an amazing travelling experience – My “adventure” with Six Senses resort was one that will stay with me for years to come. We began with a flight to Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines – who, have recently been voted ‘Asia’s Leading Airline’ at the World Travel Awards 2013.
After a short stopover bringing some retail therapy, a bustling visit to Chinatown by night and a sumptuous overnight stay at the E & O Residences, and we were ready to board our plane bound for the ultimate in luxury – Six Senses Resort, Laamu. Six Senses is the only resort in the Laamu Atoll, deep within Indian Ocean. Just an inter-island plane trip from Malé International Airport and a short, haven of a boat ride delivers us to a place where we were greeted by our GEM (Guest Experience Maker) who was allocated personally for the duration of our stay. My GEM was on call 24 hours a day and nothing was too small or too hard to ask of them. We stayed in overwater bungalows, all of which were breathtaking, complete with an outdoor shower and a private ladder leading into the azure blue waters below!
We sipped champagne on a sunset cruise watching the dolphins glide over the open blue waters and were left speechless by the colours of the sunset. Lazy days followed with snorkelling from a deserted island to the coral reefs of the Maldives and sunset yoga – absolute bliss! You can be as active as you like (and yes, I even went to the well-equipped gym to work off some of the delicious food that was on offer), or simply do nothing at all but stare at the blooming hues of the water that change daily. You can even recline under the stars at the Jungle Cinema, lounging within the canopies with warm popcorn and chilled Champagne. Plus there is an unrivalled world-class spa!
The three days illustrated above are ones that I won’t forget. Thank you to the team at Six Senses Laamu for developing one of the most rewarding and unique luxury travel destinations and resort experiences in the world today (and for catering to me with such respect and patience – in particular opening the ice-cream shop up for a late night scoop of chocolate!).
Thank you Malaysia Airlines, E & O Residences, Six Senses Resorts and Air Tickets.
